The sensor technology in automatic feeding machines is one of the key factors in achieving precise and efficient feeding.

Automatic feeders typically use multiple sensors to complete different tasks. Firstly, there is the photoelectric sensor, which mainly operates based on the photoelectric effect. When the material passes through the optical path, the photoelectric sensor can detect changes in the optical signal. For example, in an automatic feeder with a conveyor belt, a photoelectric sensor is installed on one side of the conveyor belt. When the material passes by, it blocks the light, and the sensor generates a signal that can be used to determine the position, size, and passage time of the material. The advantages of this sensor are fast response speed, high accuracy, and the ability to adapt to materials of different shapes and colors.

Proximity sensors are also commonly used. It can use principles such as electromagnetic induction or changes in capacitance to detect whether materials are approaching. For metal materials, electromagnetic induction proximity sensors have good performance. When the material approaches the sensing area of the sensor, the magnetic field inside the sensor changes, generating an electrical signal. The proximity sensor can detect the material in advance before it comes into contact with the feeding mechanism, which is very important for preventing collisions and accurately controlling the feeding timing.

In addition, there is a weight sensor. The weight sensor is usually installed on the hopper or conveyor belt of the feeding machine, and controls the feeding amount by detecting the weight of the material. For example, in some production scenarios that require precise ingredients, when the weight sensor detects that the set weight value has been reached, it will stop feeding or adjust the feeding speed. The accuracy of this sensor depends on its range and resolution, and high-precision weight sensors can achieve very precise batching.

These sensors work together in the automatic feeding machine. For example, photoelectric sensors and proximity sensors can first determine the position and arrival time of the material, and then the weight sensor can control the feeding amount based on the set weight parameters. They transmit the detected signals to the control system of the automatic feeding machine, which adjusts the motor speed, conveyor belt running speed, or valve opening and closing degree based on these signals, thereby achieving an automatic and accurate feeding process. At the same time, the sensor can also perform self diagnosis and fault alarm. When the sensor malfunctions or detects abnormal situations, it can promptly remind the operator to perform maintenance and repair, ensuring the normal operation of the feeder.
